Salmonella proven: meat product manufacturer recalls several sausage products

The company Zorn GmbH & Co. KG has started a recall for various sausage products. According to the meat product manufacturer, salmonella was detected in a raw sausage batch. These bacteria can lead to health problems.

Health impairments are not excluded

The company Zorn GmbH & Co. KG from Mönchengladbach is recalling the Mettwurst, Pfefferbeisser, Frankfurter Mettwurst Art and Paprikabeer products. According to the meat product manufacturer, Salmonella was detected in a raw sausage batch as part of a company-internal investigation. "For this reason, health impairments due to consumption cannot be ruled out," says a press release published on the portal "Lebensmittelwarnung.de" by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety.

Attention counterware

The affected sausage was sold regionally through counters in and around Mönchengladbach. Since it is countertop, the sausage is not recognizable to the end consumer. So anyone who bought Mettwurst, Pfefferbeisser, Frankfurter or Paprikabeisser at a meat counter in this room between June 13, 2019 and June 25, 2019 should inquire with the retailer as to whether the goods are affected.

Goods are taken out of sale

“Only products with the lot number: 130619 are recalled: Mettwurst, Pfefferbeisser, Frankfurter Mettwurst type, Paprikabeisser. LOS: 130619 and purchase of the consumer between 13.06.19 and 25.06.19, ”writes the manufacturer.

According to the information, the goods will be taken out of sale.

Customers who have purchased one of the products can return it to their store and receive the purchase price.

Salmonella can cause gastrointestinal diseases

Salmonella are bacteria that can trigger severe gastrointestinal disorders (salmonellosis).

The disease manifests itself primarily through sudden onset diarrhea, abdominal pain, general malaise, and headache.

In some cases, vomiting and mild fever occur.

In most cases, the symptoms disappear on their own after a few hours or days.

However, fluid loss due to diarrhea and vomiting can be dangerous for infants, young children, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system. (ad)
