Risk of injury from metal splinters in Rossmann corn wafers
Rossmann and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety warn of a risk of injury from two corn waffle products sold by Rossmann. Metal wafers seem to have gotten into the waffles. Consumption is strongly discouraged.
The manufacturer Dirk Rossmann GmbH is recalling two corn waffle items for reasons of preventive consumer protection. Metal chips were found in the products as part of an in-house inspection. The articles are affected:
- PLEASURE PLUS salted corn waffles (EAN 4305615416403) with the best before dates 01 October 2019 and 22 November 2019
- enerBiO corn wafers with sea salt (EAN 4305615186726) with the minimum semi-permanent dates 29 October 2019 and 07 December 2019
Where can the goods be returned?
The affected goods can be returned to all Rossmann branches. "Of course, the purchase price will be reimbursed upon return," the company wrote in a customer information.
What are the dangers of metal splinters in food?
Metal splinters in food can cause injuries to the mouth or teeth when chewed. If the splinters are swallowed, in the best case they can get out of the body via the gastrointestinal tract without causing any damage. In some cases, they also settle in the body and cause inflammation or internal injuries. They can also get stuck in the neck area and trigger breathlessness.
